My requested introduction:

“Tonight's speaker was a widely published naturalist and historian, Dakota cattle rancher, New York Assemblyman, U.S. Civil Service Commissioner, New York City Police Commissioner, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Commander of the Rough Rider regiment in the Spanish American War, Governor of the state of New York, Vice President, and President of the United States...all by the age of Forty Two. As President, he placed over 230 million acres under federal management and protection as national parks, monuments, forests and wildlife refuges, initiated construction of the Panama Canal, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating the end to the Russo-Japanese War, and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his exemplary leadership actions in Cuba. Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome President Theodore Roosevelt.”

“And now I am pleased to introduce the scholar behind the character…

A retired military officer-turned high school U.S. history teacher, Kurt Skinner is a life-long student of history. His students would testify to the fact that it’s important for him to “get it right” as regards historical accuracy. Theodore Roosevelt’s presence now looms large in his daily routine, as he is currently writing the story of Colonel Roosevelt’s bond of veteran brotherhood with his Rough Rider regiment after war. Kurt also co-hosts a weekly podcast about Theodore Roosevelt called Talk About Teddy. In his performances as T.R., he wants to honor and faithfully represent this man that he so admires. Kurt's goal in the persona of T.R. is to engage, entertain, and enlighten audiences, and remind us, speaking T.R.’s own words, what has always been great about Teddy Roosevelt’s America. Kurt is a member of the Theodore Roosevelt Association and the American Legion.”
